2 Ways To Clean Your Deck

If you are trying to clean your deck, it can be difficult. There are ways that you can do it so that you can get it nice and clean so that you can reseal it or for whatever other reason. 

Elbow Grease

One thing you can do is to use some good old-fashioned elbow grease. First, you are going to need to make sure that you have swept your deck off really well. You don't want any debris that could damage your deck while you are trying to clean it. It can also make the whole washing process easier because if you use a good stiff broom you may get rid of some of the dirt that you would otherwise have to scrub off. Then you should get some water with bleach, or a cleaner specifically designed for cleaning decks, and a stiff scrub brush and start scrubbing. You will also probably want to get some latex or nitrile gloves like your doctor uses or gloves for washing dishes. That way the chemicals don't affect your hands. You will want to work in small sections at a time so that you can get all the dirt off before you start the next section. You will probably need to change your water several times because it will get dirty.

Another option is that you can put some power behind cleaning your deck. One thing you can do is to use an air compressor and a power washer instead of having to get down on your hands and knees to get the whole deck scrubbed. Once you have swept of your deck, you can grab the power washer. You will also need to make sure that it's attached to your hose. There is a receptacle attached to the power washer that you can use to put your cleaner in. When you do that, the water will first go into that receptacle and then spray out of the power washer. You can use the blast of water and cleaner to scour the dirt off your deck. Again, you will want to work in small sections and work in a direction that will make sure that you aren't blowing dirty water back on the section you just cleaned off.
